Grammar Point
Dear Pete,
I am troubled immensely with a grammar point. In your No.168 Pronunciation podcast episode ‘Had not have=Hadn’t have’ – I have come accross some sort of a strange consutruction (-from my perspective!) in “third conditional” sentences – some people call it ‘double perfects’. It appears the issue is known – please see the photo from my google research- it is self explanatory, I hope. What is your take on this? Do you consider this as a good practice generally? Once you have recorded this pronunciation podcast it seems you accept this way. Kindly comment. I am very interested to know whether you agree with the commentaries in the photo attached.
